Traineeship Pathway — Co-contribution Fees

For the traineeship pathway, co-contribution fees are set by the Department at $1.60 per nominal hour for each unit of competency or module and must be calculated at the commencement of each unit or module. The co-contribution fee applies consistently across all Skills Assure Suppliers delivering apprenticeships and traineeships. Adjustments to the co-contribution fee may be applied annually by the Department, with formal notification provided to Skills Assure Suppliers.

Students and employers will be advised of applicable fees before enrolment and before training commences.

Career Start Eligibility

To access a subsidised training place under the Career Start general training pathway, students must meet eligibility requirements. Students generally need to:

  • be aged 15 years or older
  • not be a school student
  • permanently reside in Queensland
  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, eligible temporary resident, humanitarian entrant or New Zealand citizen
  • not already hold a Certificate III or higher qualification completed within the last 10 years
  • not be currently enrolled in another qualification, including qualifications on hold or deferred

Eligibility is assessed before enrolment. Additional entry restrictions or exemptions may apply.

Funding Disclaimer

Queensland Government subsidised training is only available to eligible students under approved Programs, qualifications, training pathways and delivery locations. Eligibility criteria, co-contribution fees and enrolment conditions apply.
